At Luxury Auto Mall of Sioux Falls, we are proud to have a diverse selection of unique and impressive luxury vehicles. That includes our BMW lineup, which offers drivers a consistently innovative and memorable experience. Which model is right for you, though? And what are the differences between them?
In order to help you with your decision, we’ve broken down the different types of BMW models, and what makes them unique.
What i and e Mean
When you are looking to invest in a BMW model, you may notice that they have an "i" or an "e" at the end of their model name. For instance, the BMW 3 Series has the BMW 330i. A few years back, they also had the BME 330e. So what does this mean?
The letters are actually very straightforward -- i stand for gas fuel-injection. E, on the other hand, stands for electric hybrids.
Different Body Styles
There are a few different body styles that you can consider. They all have different designations, too.
X models, for instance, indicate the vehicle is an SUV. So, when you see a BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X6, or BMW X7 on our website, you can know instantly that it is an SUV.
M cars are designated as such because they are specially designed by the BMW M performance division. As such, when you see a vehicle like the BMW M5, you will be able to know it is designed to deliver stunning performance, above and beyond what you would usually expect.
BMW's Series models -- like the BMW 3 Series, BMW 4 Series, and BMW 5 Series -- are generally sedans and coupes. All of these vehicles offer efficient performance and versatile capabilities. The smaller numbers tend to be more entry-level vehicles, while higher numbers are more luxurious, spacious, and powerful.
